  1. We would like to take a trip to Maui from 6/25 -7/1. Will Airfare from Sacramento or San Francisco be dropping anytime soon? Thanks

    1. Hi Valerie.

No it will not. That is one of the highest priced weeks of the year. Accommodations and car should be checked immediately as well.

      Aloha.

    2. Could you please tell us if you think Las Vegas to Maui will be happening with southwest by February 2020?

        1. Will there be any good deals from Las Vegas to Maui in February? Last I saw American was 477RT. Thank you

  2. What are your thoughts about Christmas flights? We are flying from Phoenix, and in the past, they’ve been around $1000 roundtrip that time of year. Do you expect them to be lower this year? Is there going to be a good time to buy this year? Thanks!

    1. Hi Joanna.

Doubtful that Christmas will be different this year although with more competition that is at least a remote possibility. There are too many variables to nail it down further at this time. If you’re set on plans, then suggest booking air, accommodations, car now. Otherwise, if you’re flexible and willing to gamble, then suggest waiting. You could however either pay more later, need to change dates or go somewhere else instead.

We’ll let you know as soon as there is more information. SWA remains an important variable, but we just don’t when when or where they’ll be flying yet.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi there, we’ve been watching fares for the last 9 months for our June 6-13 trip to Maui from Denver. In the past we’ve paid between $530-$630. Haven’t seen it drop below mid $700’s… are fares just up now? Should we wait a bit longer? That last time we went was June 2015 and fares dropped in October. Never saw a drop this go around. Any advise would be great. Thanks!

    1. Hi Erin.

Probably more flights from Denver will happen in not distant future with new planes arriving at HA and SW among others. But for now, there are fares in mid $500’s in May but they aren’t extending to your dates. Your dates might be added later, but it’s hard to say. Seems like you should be able to wait given mid-week. Only issue in that is that 13th is technically high season, so possible that date may never go down.

      Aloha.

    1. Get on the Hopper App and they’ll notify you when you should buy at the cheapest prices. Just make sure to click the “watch flight” or “keep watching”. It’s about $900 and up from Austin, TX mid June.

  4. Hmmm…with places like Las Vegas and Phoenix becoming a jumping off points from the west coast because the new jets entering service, I wonder what kind of airfares we can expect to see. Are they dropping now in anticipation? Want news in these cities?

  5. I tried San diego to Maui flight in June through american and united and they both came up at least $900 round trip. What am I doing wrong.

    1. Hi Donna.

Currently from mid $800’s to $1,000+. Depends on stops/duration. Best possible target is lot to mid $400’s. Thus might improve by waiting – but it’s hard to predict.

      Aloha.

  6. Aloha, thanks for your help! Because of you I was able to snag some low fares and put together my own flight package from Denver and save well over $500 on 2 tickets! This site is very appreciated! I’ll see you all in August for 2 weeks of Maui and Kauai to celebrate my wedding! Mahalo!

    1. Hi William.

So glad to hear that! Thank you for letting us know, we really appreciate it.

      Aloha.

  7. Aloha!

Been watching fares daily per your emails. Our trip to Maui is May 29-June 12. Is it likely fares will continue to fall and cover those dates?

    Mahalo,

    Dave B.

    1. Hi Dave.

No departure city was listed. Your May 29 date will be fine but June 12 will be in high season and could be problematic. Low season dates will continue to see more deals, but high season probably not.

      Aloha.

  8. To Beat of Hawaii staff,

This is a great website guys. I kind of stumbled on to it by accident. Wish i would have had access to it the last couple of years. Could have saved a lot of money. Keep up the good work and I’m passing this along to friends.

  9. You are such great advocates for Hawaii that possibly you may be able to assist those of us who do not live on the west coast. Hawaiian will not allow bags to be checked through on separately booked flights, leaving travelers to choose from the combinations of flights folk like Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, etc. decide are attractive. Where can travelers like me go to book on one ticket, combinations that are great, but aren’t on the lists, or at least at reasonable fares. For example HA 549/HA 48 KOA to OAK, arriving at 9:25 pm, should be able to connect with AA 508 OAK-DFW, departing at 11:55 pm. These flights are currently listed at $227.70 and $179.00 on the airlines websites, but even with 223 other combinations on Google Flights, that combination isn’t on the list. Or on Orbitz or Expedia. Help. I’m willing to do the research, I just need a place to go to get it on one ticket at the same price as on the airlines websites. Thanks

    1. Hi Bob.

Yes, understand your situation and the complexity these days of interlining. Also that you aren’t able to put two good fares together and still have a good fare all the way through. Honestly we don’t know how you can do that without a stopover. Travel agents also came to mind, although not sure they can do anything better. Lastly, you didn’t say your dates, but we see through fares from DFW to KOA starting in the $500’s for low seasons.

      Aloha.
