  1. Any travel planning advice you have for those of us in flyover country? You regularly report tantalizing deals for the West Coast to Hawaii, as well as from Boston. What strategies do you suggest for getting good deals from Chicago, etc.? E.g., if I travel from Chicago (on United or American or whatever), what West Coast city would be most advantageous from there to Hawaii (number of flights, convenience, best prices)? How about the return? Any other wise tips?

I always love your email messages, they inspire wanderlust!

    1. Hi Kevin.

Thank you. The Midwest suffers from generally bad pricing to Hawaii. You can fly to the west coast, but without a true stopover it gets complicated having multiple tickets. The airlines also have it rigged pretty well to make it not really advantageous. Best cities to check however would include, San Jose, Oakland and San Diego. Let us know how it works out.

      Aloha.

  2. Good afternoon! Thank you fir another great heads up about sales!
I have a question: do you think Black Friday would be the day to buy, or hold out and see if cyber Monday is even better?
Thank you in advance for the time you take to help us all out.

    1. Hi Steph.

Not sure to be honest. You might want to go ahead and buy if the price is right Friday.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi, do you think any of the Black Friday or Monday sales will include Hawaiian Air’s interisland flights? I need to purchase 5 tickets from HON to Lanai for mid Februray. Thanks!

  4. Six of us are traveling to Kauai from San Diego September 25-October 4. Will Cyber deals cover this time period? When should we start looking for deals?

  5. We are planning to travel to Maui in early June from Phoenix. Right now I am seeing round trip airfares at about $800 on both Hawaiian and American (the only two airlines with direct routes to the islands from Phoenix). When do you think we might see these get down to a more reasonable price?

  6. Not sure how Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on Hawaiian will be affected by possible strike. Hope they resolve it quickly.

  7. Mahalo! Huge help to make the most of Black Fri and Cyber Mon.
I am wondering if you know what time zone I should be keeping an eye on for the deals…. For example, Fri, 12:01 am, but it’s that H.S.T. , Pacific or Eastern time zones? I’m looking for deals to fly my mother from California to HNL but also for me to fly from HNL to SFO.

    1. Hi Michelle.

No we aren’t sure. Usually Hawaiian and Alaska release deals about 9am Pacific time from our experience, and Southwest does so much earlier.

      Aloha.

  8. Hello, my daughter’s husband is being stationed to Hawaii and they will be moving in January. They are expecting their first baby mid-April. My family and I would like to visit for two weeks when the baby arrives, and we will be traveling from Boston. We are planning our trip for April 17- May 1. My husband has back issues so we will most likely have to book seats with more room, either economy plus or first class. When do you think the best time to book our tickets will be?

    1. Hi Kathy.

Boston is getting some deals, but only mid-week. Try in January – we always list Boston prices, so hopefully you’ll see something that works for you. Let us know how it goes.

      Aloha.

  9. June says, hi,could you please help with my query, I am looking to go to Hawaii from cheapest airport and airline in USA from first week of April 2021 for 2 weeks. A rough guide would be great if it’s too early for prices now. Also, accomodation reccomendations would also be great. Thanks, June

  10. Hello, We want to travel from Las Vegas to Kauai in May (May 18), then to Maui (May 26), then back to Las Vegas (June 1). Do you expect the prices to go down during this time and when should I be watching for tickets? Do you recommend trying to fly out of another city? Should I be trying to get a round trip flight from Las Vegas to Maui, back to Vegas, then add a round trip island hopper flight? Thanks!

    1. Hi Shelli.

Probably little or no savings on money and definitely a waste of time to be adding inter-island flights that aren’t needed. Las Vegas doesn’t have much of any competition so you can’t expect too much in way of savings. Best pricing probably at about 90 days out.

      Aloha.
