  1. Keep me informed on when Hawaiian airlines flight 7 Las to Hnl will go September 29
And when the 14 day quar antine gets Lifted.

      1. I’ll second that….KHON interviewed Josh Green this morning. Sounds like by midweek we’ll all know!
Personally I’m comforted by the fact that Josh is an ER Doctor by profession. I’m thinking when the dust settles
we will see that Hawaii did an admirable job of balancing safety with the urgent need to get the economy going again.
I’m guessing no matter what is said, there will be people that will say they don’t think they should have to wear a mask or get tested etc.
To those folks I say fine, please stay home. You epitomize the self centered “it’s all me and my wants” traveler that really no one likes, here or anywhere else.
For those that understand the needs for safeguards and are willing to do a little extra to come to Hawaii you are going to find an amazing
welcoming tropical paradise that will be the least crowded it’s been in a long time.
Thanks to the states efforts to keep Hawaii as safe as it has been, Hawaii will be one of the safest most C0vid free place you could find to travel to on the planet.

  2. Thanks to “BOH” for this forum and all the info. Many Hawaii news sites have nowhere to comment or ya have to pay for access. Almost like they don’t wanna hear what we have to say?

Hawaii has the same problems as many states, there’s a “Double edge sword” of problems; People wanna be safe, but need to get money flowing to survive. They are not alone! Most Mainland states have Plans to reopen and monitor their situations. Some are working good, some not so much.. But, they have one this working that Hawaii does NOT… A PLAN for opening their economy! This is most disturbing….

Yesterday, we saw a big spike of 27 cases in Hawaii and they say, ‘Eh… we expected that…’

    Really??

There’s barely any tourists there….. This is about PEOPLE. You and me and families. We all will or WILL NOT make this work. ‘Wear a mask, stay 6 feet away and wash your hands.’ Children can follow these rules, we all need to do this to get through.

A FEASIBLE PLAN…. Everyone needs to walk the line. Tourists and Hawaiian residents. BUT, the plan needs to be feasible and workable! Right now, all we’re hearing is, the answer is PRE-TESTING. Even though I don’t think is very reliable, we’re ready for pre-testing!

The huge and embarrassing questionable part of this request is… WHERE, HOW and WHEN?

We live in Oregon, but have “ZERO” access to a random C0VID TEST for travel. The State of Washington has the same situation. I, personally, have gone to local pharmacy chains and asked, “Have ya heard anything about providing C0VID tests for travel, with results in 2-3 days.”

Answer at every venue…. NOPE. Haven’t heard a thing and we’d need more C0VID tests to do it.

I work at a hospital (yea, I’m no stranger to this), so called up 3 of our pharmacies and talked to one Pharmacy Manager… ‘Have ya heard about COVID tests for travel purposes and will this be happening?”

Answer…. ‘I know there will be a need, but we do not have access to enough Tests and there is no system in place yet…”

We’ve been hearing all about this Pre-Testing scenario for about a month and half, yet no one has access or a plan being made in the states? Is there any communication or has Pre-testing just been a diversionary ruse?!

Oregon and Washington are two major Hawaiian jump off hubs for Hawaii, yet no plans for Pre-Test in the states where tourists will be coming from????

Do they think tourists will arrive, take a test in Honolulu and sit in a Quar antine room for 3 days, just so they can be cleared to enjoy 4 of their 7 days of vacation?

Something is VERY wrong here….. I think Tourists and Hawaiians Residents are being fed something, that’s not feasible! It’s like telling you, “You’re going to need surgery next month, but we’re not going to provide you with a Surgeon, a Hospital or a vehicle to get there.”

Remember…. We ALL need to do OUR parts to make this work. Tourists, Hawaiian Residents and a State Government that not only has a plan, but prepared to follow through.

Please tell me I’m wrong… I’s really like to believe there is a PLAN and it’s in the works.

Thank you for letting me vent my frustrations, I’m sure everyone is just as frustrated.

    1. Quick answer: incompetent Hawaii guv

No plan, no urgency for one

      He just doesnt care

He operates in his own time zone oblivious to all others.

  3. Hi

New grandbaby born today in Kona! When can I visit?

Thanks for your good work and analysis of this crazy situation!

  4. Why are passengers allowed to fly Hawaiian inter island and not wear a mask? I’m a health professional and a man refused to wear a mask saying he was disabled. I saw no signs of a disability, he was breathing without difficulty, his facial expression was the same and he appeared relaxed , his respirations were normal and not labored and mouth was closed! I was watching him for at least 10 minutes while the flight attendants and the officials at the gate were deciding what to do. He should have been put off the plane!
Also American Airlines didn’t monitor passengers who left their masks off most of the time and only pulled them up when an attendant was coming toward them. When I asked a male flight attendant to please ask the 3 young men to pull up their masks, he refused stating “we can’t make them “ ! He refused to ask them nicely to keep them on !
I’m in jeopardy of getting this due to multiple medical conditions! The only reason I left Kauai where I felt safe at home in self quar antine, was due to my serious medical conditions! Why do we have mandated rules of masking, distancing and quar antine with accountability for those who disobey when no authority uses the citations of fines and possible jail time? This especially is needed for passengers on airplanes who won’t wear masks! If they refuse, they should be put off the plane. How do you think this got spread after everyone was to mask , distance, etc? The airlines were transporting thousands of passengers around the mainland and NOT REQUIRING MASKS UNTIL 3 WEEKS AGO!
    Please help save lives!!

    1. [Warning: inappropriate content deleted]. You should have stayed home if your that “TERRIFIED”

  5. At one time you had another source to go to in case airlines would not refund trip cost.

I booked a trip for myself and a friend starting July 29 with a return of October 9. I waited until this month to decide whether to continue on that trip then I heard that the governor has extended the stay at home order through July 30

I called Hawaiian Airlines and asked for my trip to be refunded and they said they could not do that because the flight has not been canceled.

I explain that the condo that I rented cannot be used and I have decided to cancel the trip he still insisted that I could not get a refund but could cancel and use the funds through 2022

I do not know what the future holds and I would rather get my money back and decide in the future whether I will be going to way during these precarious times

I understand this is a financially precarious time for Airlines but I also feel that there are extenuating circumstances and I should be allowed to get a refund what else can I do to get a refund

Thank you so much for your time

    1. Hi Jackie.

Based on what many visitors have reported as working, we suggest you reach out to the airline via direct message on social media.

      Aloha.

  6. Our family group has airline tickets and lodging reservations beginning August 1. Would we still be subject to the 14 day quar antine?

  7. Two trips postponed this year already for my family of 4. We rescheduled for August and November. We have about 10k invested. That’s a lot of money for firefighter and a stay-at-home mom of 2 teenage boys. We love Kauai! We’ve traveled there exclusively for 20 years…since our honeymoon. We’ve spent tens of thousands on the heavenly island. All we ask for is a plan for reopening…we’re willing to tested…we will respect the guidelines in place. In our county south of Seattle, (30 miles) we’re in our second week or phase 2…and no spikes. Hawaii is part of the America! This is getting ridiculous! Come on…what is your reopening plan!?!

Thank you BoH for your daily updates! Love your emails!

  8. Thank you and I totally agree reopen July 1st. Lots of people made plans when the date was set for June 30 to lift Quarantine. American Airlines had several overbooked flights from the 7th July 9th. They may not come at all and decide on another place and not come til next year. Hawaii islands may not be in there plans anymore. May not come til next year or not at all. I hope that is not the case. Praying that all businesses are able to reopen and survive. Mahalo and Aloha!!!Debbie

  9. I am so upset. We were do to fly in to Hawaii on July 26th and stay thru August 19 for my 60 Birthday and know we have lost it all. We had a time share at Ko’olina to stay for 3 weeks and now it has been put over into Interval in which will not be able to get our three weeks back to back like we had it. The airlines will not refund our money and will only give credit toward another flight in which we will not have the money to go on later. Does Beat of Hawaii or the Governor want to give me out three weeks we had a Ko’olina and then the 5 days that we were suppose to stay at Marriott Resort and Spa. We lost that too. We have been coming to Hawaii since 1995 and now we don’t know if we will ever come back. I love Hawaii and this has devastated us.

    1. Joyce….it’s my impression there is talk of a preflight testing program being set up to open up tourism and that could possibly
be sooner then July 31st, Announcement soon….anybody else hear anything? It was in the local news that the LG was in meetings
this Monday, so if it’s true you’ll hear soon….good luck

    2. Awe Poor Joyce. You act like your the only one affected by this? Your not. Stop whining. We have had to reschedule our trip as well to September. Dont threaten not to go back because if you do then please dont and allow those of us who are patient enough to wait this out to go.
Also if a particular airline or hotel wont refund you I would be calling my lawyer.

    3. It has also devastated the 120,000 Americans killed by C0VID, and tens of thousands more who are left with possibly permanent damage to kidneys, GI tract, and brain. Strokes, heart problems, even amputation due to blood clots. This is what Hawai’i is trying to avoid, and so far they have done a wonderful job – one of the very lowest hospitalization rates and death rates in the nation. There’s “devastated” and then there’s devastated.

  10. I would be willing to get testing to travel to a requiring country to avoid quar antine or the inability to travel there.

    1. You are willing to have a swab stuck all the way into your skull so that you can go and spend thousands in their economy? I can spend thousands in my economy and not have to force my whole family to have swabs jammed in their skull to reassure Hawaiians.

      1. If they required a colonoscopy, then yeah, I’d change my plans. A swab in the nose doesn’t sound that terrible to me.
