  1. Please don’t forget that there is another side of the Big Island–and that’s where I want to go (not to the Kona side).

  2. Hawaiian Airlines needs to add a Kansas City connection. 🙂

Hahahahahaha… I know it will never happen. We usually fly out of Phoenix or California.

    1. Hi Barbara.

Your sense of humor! Sorry, they got left out by us (now added), and also in terms of no deals from there.

      Aloha.

  3. Mahalo guys for the “regularly scheduled programming”
You always bring a smile to my face!
My Ohana are coming to Maui in January. I’m guessing maybe there might be some deals coming up in the next few months?
They’ll be flying out of LAX. I’ll stay tuned for your updates on the testing mess, and upcoming specials on flights. Looking forward to seeing some specials on rental vehicles as well.

Thank you for helping us all navigate these ever-changing rules. Without you we’d all be kept in the dark.
You guys light the path for all.
    Aloha and blessings to you

    1. Hi Pam.

Thank you! Given today’s announcement from SWA, LAX flights should be very competitively priced. Good news.

      Aloha.

  4. It appears that car rental fees have come down slighty from a couple of weeks ago.
We are planning a 3 week stay in August in Maui.
Do you think the fees will come down to a more reasonable level before our
    August trip.
    Thanks for your input.

    1. Hi Ron.

Yes, they are coming down and should continue to. The new normal is going to be higher than it was previously, however.

      Aloha.

  5. What are the Chances of seeing some deals from Vegas to Maui. An we aren’t going until February. Thanks.

    1. Hi Linda.

Fair chance. That market doesn’t have as much competition as some of the others which have the best fares.

      Aloha.

  6. These airfares skips all of June and July. I have been checking regularly. My family of 6 are flying to Maui in July and the least expensive price I can find is $533 mid week on Hawaiian for a non-stop flight. Should I wait or should I book it before that price is gone? Checking Southwest is a joke…$639 each way Plus…

    Thank you for your help…

    Linda

PS Lesson learned – Never plan a vacation in Maui in July.

  7. I already booked my trip to Maui for June 9 thru thru June 13 and another to Oahu for August 25 thru the 31st. Any chance the airline (both are thru Hawaiian Airlines) will do a price adjustment? I purchased trip insurance as well. Hopefully they will accept vaccine cards as I’ve had both of mine but am prepared to do a COVID test if I must. Can’t wait to be there again as I was there and left 2 days before they shut Hawaii down.

  8. Thank you BOH as always for the most up to date information!
We are planning to go to HNL from DFW on 5/15 returning 5/31. Any good deals there? 🙂

    1. Hi Julieta.

No good deals unfortunately at this time. $732 RT on the nonstop, or about $150 less with a stop in LA. Have a great time on Oahu.

      Aloha.

  9. Thank you for this information. It’s too bad the rental car prices have increased so much and have realistically made a trip to any of the islands cost-prohibitive. We are so sad that we will have to cancel our trip because of this. Please write an article about this so others are aware and can plan accordingly. Thank you.

    1. Hi Robin.

Here is the post about what is happening with Hawaii car rentals. By the way, that isn’t just in Hawaii. We heard of prices up to $500/day in the past couple of weeks in Florida, for example.

      Aloha.

  10. Will Hawaiian Airlines be flying from “Sacramento” to Maui, Kona, Kauai and Oahu in the months August to the rest of the year..???? The wife and I are planning trips for August and October. Thank you for your reply……

    1. Hi JessandSusan.

The flight schedule is still evolving as Hawaii comes back online. Yes for HNL and OGG, and likely not for the other two.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Caldwell.

Let us know you’re routing if you’d like, and we’ll be happy to have a look too.

      Aloha.

  11. Love this site😊
We are looking for flights from Denver, Colorado to Molakai,HI
around the third to fourth week of March 2021.

    Sincerely appreciated!

    Bev S

    1. Hi Bev.

The price is currently between $400 and $600, and that doesn’t include the legs between Honolulu and MKK (additional $125 RT). We’ve had sales from Denver recently, and they could come back. It’s hard to predict.

      Aloha.

  12. Can I be tested in any lab I work for Northwell which is the largest healthcare in New York I can have test done and on my phone I one day thanks dawn

    1. Hi Dawn.

This has now become unclear. The state has mandated that only their partners be used. We have since learned however that due to confusion, tests from non-approved partners have also been accepted. We don’t know yet if that means the state will change the rules or not. The safest bet is to stick with their partners.

      Aloha.

      1. Thank you for this tip!
I’m trying to travel from Boston to Maui (or any of the islands really) but it seems like all the prices are $600+ with any season. Am I missing something? Thanks for the help!

        1. Hi Meagan.

In terms of that deal, yes. What you’re missing is that the airlines change fares up to 5x daily. So what we shared last week is no longer valid. When we post deals, as we almost say, is that you need to get them right then. Not in a few hours or a few days. Stay tuned, there will be more.

          Aloha.

          1. Mahalo! I’m going to be more on my toes for the future with airline prices. Thanks for your help 🙂

  13. Thank-you for all the updates. We have a two week vacation planned in Jan We understand that testing has to be done but ask you to consider any clinical lab in The Us doing Covid testing. The lab Unipath /Cedar is not on your list of partners however. They test Covid for the state of Colorado. Isn’t the real solution to make sure all of us travel safely. Please widen your testing partners to include any licensed lab in the Us. Make traveling easier for all. Hopefully we’ll see you in January Blessings Deer

    1. Hi Dee.

It looks like something will be changing with regard to testing partners. So given you have a few months, stay tuned for updates on that.

      Aloha.

  14. We have 2 week vacation planned for the big island Which we paid full price for. I understand all the test required for the safety of all However I believe you should widen the partners When a lab that is testing for the state of Colorado is not on the list. You are missing out on many tourist that want to comply. So I ask kindly to add any clinal lab in the Us as credible testing. So please add Unipath/ Cedar to your list of acceptable partners Thankyou for your consideration!!
    Dee W.

    1. Hi Dee.

While we don’t know about that specific location, it is our understanding that many more trusted partners will soon be added.

      Aloha

  15. So glad to see Hawaii has reopened! After a few initial bumps to iron out, it seems that the safety of residents plus jumpstarting the economy, is happening.

Any word on entry for US citizens stuck overseas? I hope to visit family in December. 14 day quarantine is not an option. To fly from Asia passengers must have a negative Covid test to board the plane – thus all arriving are Covid free. If the flights are going (???) what is required to fly into Honolulu with a connecting flight to Kona. I will probably have to rebook my flights for the 3rd time so it would be good to have some guidelines first.

Once you recover from the frenzy of the last few weeks with Mainland travel, please keep your eyes open on developments for international arrivals. Again I am a US citizen – not a tourist.

Mahalo and thanks again for your super job!!

    1. Hi Nancy.

Thanks. We do know that Japan is in the works and soon, and so is Canada, but that’s all we have heard about. Updates coming.

      Aloha.

  16. Aloha Guys,

Trying to keep up with all these on again/off again/on again changes, I lost track of the links to resting providers on the west coast. Can you give me the link to where is shows all the accepted tests/providers that is on the list, and where to go to update and track your information to the state of Hawaii, please?

Mahalo for your continued coverage of all this craziness! Many of us appreciate you more than you can fathom! ❤️🤍💙

  17. Aloha, which airline has a scheduled Sacramento-Kona non-stop? Or if not scheduled now, which one seems like it will in the future? We need RT originating at SMF. Mahalo, Linda Olsen

    1. Hi Linda.

None of the airlines are indicating they will fly that round nonstop in the future. That could change, based on demand.

      Aloha.

  18. Thanks for the updates – Being from Vancouver area can you please update as to Covid testing requirements that we can get in Canada as everything I see is only available in USA. Also any Flights form Canada are appreciated. Thanks

    1. Hi Don.

Westjet plans to resume flying from Vancouver in early November. Right now there is nothing for Canada other than perhaps the mailorder Quest tests, as far as we know. And we aren’t even sure about those from Canada.

      Aloha.

  19. I hope you can help me! I am from North Dakota and my family has tickets flying on United from Fargo to Denver and then direct to Kahalui, Maui. 72 hours before is on a Sunday which means I cannot overnight a sample in the mail that day. There are not any CVS or Walgreens in North Dakota doing COVID tests for people without symptoms. I do not know how to get a test and results in time!! If you have any information for people like me who do not live close to a metropolitan area, I would appreciate it. Also, if we get to go and test negative, do we need to wear masks at the swimming pool or on the beach?? Thank you!

    1. Hi Jane.

Not sure about your timing in terms of mail-order tests. You could contact Quest perhaps and see if they think it will work. No, you will not need to wear masks at the swimming pool or on the beach at this time.

      Aloha.

  20. OK, this is wonderful news but travelers to Kauai May be on quarantine if there is a virus spread of beyond 8 cases. Is that correct and would that apply to people who are already there?

  21. MY friend was not refunded her ticket on Hawaiian despite flight in spring when covid was a real problem….only a voucher limited time. Just want to say American Airlines has been more than gracious and has refunded in total three itinerary first class tickets for two attempts from nyc, and coach for Italy….very responsive to our needs…even wrote Hawaiian on friends behalf and unresolved. I love American…..36 times to Islands and no problem until now, with acceptable partner testing. Yes, acceptable as per Hawaii, no, then yes…gave up.

  22. Hello. Thank you for your coverage during all this mess!

I’m also really interested in LOW COST accommodations. It’s the hotel / condo / Airbnb that’s Going to cost me the most.

Are there any amazing deals on Accommodations ?
I want to surf in Hawaii. 🙂
    Thanks

    1. Hi Glen.

Thanks. Accommodations will definitely heave deals soon. It is coming together somewhat slowly and no one was really sure what was happening until Hawaii actually reopened yesterday. Give it a week or two.

      Aloha.

  23. Re: Hawaiian airlines special from mainland to Kona. I have booked a flight with this carrier and because of Hawaii’s off again on again closure in regard to the covid virus I have rebooked my flight plans Five times now. And the most recent flight scheduled to leave first week of Dec they charged me an additional $160. So what gives. I think I need to talk to someone.

  24. If I were to purchase now and follow through on the change thing, do I then just pay the difference on a future flight? I’m trying to decide if I sold jump to get this rate or if it’ll matter in the long run

  25. I have been clicking on $99 Fare War on the Air lines forever for the $99 deal from Lax to Kona Hi., but nothing comes up only the regular air fare schedules !

  26. Hi there! I’m looking for flights to Honolulu for April 4-11, some of us are traveling from New York and some from California. So far I haven’t really found anything under $1,000, I see some on the deals list above but don’t see them on Hawaiian airlines website. Any advice? Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Devan.

You’re planning to travel during the peak of spring break, on Saturdays, and you will find deals for then. Best suggestions including changing dates to get away from that week, as well as flying mid-week, not on weekends.

      Aloha.
