  1. Aloha
We will be vacationing from Nov 19 to the 27th in Maui . Flying from San Francisco to OGG.
Tickets @744 currently . Do you think they might come down in price ? Should I wait to purchase tickets ?
    Thank you

    1. Hi Diane.

Not too likely to come down since you’re still firmly positioned within Thanksgiving dates. You’d have to move a day or two further like 20 to 28th. That will lower by close to $200.

      Aloha.

  2. Aloha and thanks for the reminder about these deals!

I’m looking at an early October trip including LGB-HNL and LIH-LAX. The round trip airfare is just over $1K for two when timed properly. Do you think fares may dip further in the interim or is this deal worth buying now?

    Mahalo!

    1. Hi Jeff.

If you’re flexible on days of week, then we’ll have better prices ahead for fall travel. You might save $100 or more per person. For weekends, much less variability.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi- is there any way to find out what will be open & closed on Northshore Kauai in the near future. We have a trip planned in early June and am looking for information. Aloha. Andy

    1. Hi Andy.

We haven’t heard anything about the road beyond Waikoko (Hanalei) and when it will be opened to non-residents.

      Aloha.

  4. Any insights about the Kilauea eruption. Will be on Hawaii on 5/29 and 30 on shore trips off Pride of America.
Booked Volcanoes Natl Park and Helicopter tour.
No word yet from Hawaiian Air or Norwegian Cruise Line.
    Thanks

  5. Flying from Dallas to Honolulu October 31-November 7 any idea of how much those tickets would be?

  6. Hi,

We are honeymooning in Maui on October 14 – 23. We are flexible on airport (ideally Panhandle of Florida, but could fly from Atlanta or Nashville). Do you have any recommendations on cheapest airport, when to buy as well as a target price? Any information would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Taylor.

On your dates – $750+ from BNA or ATL. TLH is going to be quite a bit higher as you would expect. Sunday departure is going to keep it a big more expensive. Not sure it will improve much by waiting.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi, Any thoughts on travel to the Big Island this summer with Kilauea erupting? A couple weeks ago, I booked a vacation rental overlooking the Kapoho tide pools for mid-August, and am wondering if we should plan to stay only on the west side. Obviously, my vacation is nothing compared to the people who live there and are evacuated and possibly losing their homes! Just trying to plan–would still like to visit the Big Island this summer. Thanks so much for all your great info.

    1. Hi Eowyn.

Your location is very near the eruption which probably isn’t the best choice at the moment. Anywhere else on the Big Island will of course be fine. Come – you’ll have a great time.

      Aloha.

  8. Hi
We’re flying San Jose to Honolulu. Then to kauai and back to san jose. Sept 10-27. Was going to book with Hawaiian air on the fall sale. It’s about $600. Do you think we’ll see better pricing in the next months?

    Thanks
    Deb

    1. Hi Deb.

Currently $483 on Hawaiian. Looks like it could come down by up to $100 if you can wait. Should work out well for your mid-week, off-season dates.

      Aloha.

  9. Aloha–My family and I will be traveling to Oahu in September. Today, the round-trip fare for our dates is $526. Should we book the flights, or wait? Mahalo!

    1. Hi Susan.

You didn’t say where you are traveling from but your IP address indicates Bay Area. For mid-week travel from Bay Area it looks good for more deals ahead and suggest watching with us and waiting for the moment. If you’re traveling on weekends, it may well not improve.

      Aloha.

      Aloha.

  10. Will you be reporting on the quakes & lava? Just checking… On the Big Island, we just having a serious of escalating quakes. It might be prudent for visitors to be prepared for locally generated tsunamis and stay away from tall older concrete structures.
