  1. Should we expect summer sales anytime soon or at all? We have a trip planned at the end of July to Kauai and from DFW area $1100 is about the cheapes round trip.

    Thank you
    Beat of Hawaii!

    Jim

    1. Hi Jim.

We see low $900’s with good connections on American available today. That a good price for summer and no reason to expect it to go down. In fast we’d expect the opposite.

      Aloha.

  2. Aloha! I hope you and yours are well.

I was just wondering how many airlines offer non-stop flights from SFO to KOA?

At this early stage of my research, it seems as though United is the only one (which seems odd).

    Keep up the great work!

    Mahalo Nui Loa,
    Robert

  3. Looking for flights from OAK to HNL / SJC to HNL for a week starting Feb 25, showing 199 for Hawaiian Airlines. Going back and forth if we should book now or should we wait for better deals? Thank you!!!

    1. Hi Mari.

Anytime it is under $400 that is a great deal. Especially on Saturdays. Mid-week is $50 less. Buy.

      Aloha.

  4. Hi there 🙂
I love your site and appreciate all the great deals and information!

I plan to fly from IAH or AUS to Maui for 1 week during my winter break from school.I can depart on/after 12/25, but have to be back in Tx for school on/by 1/16.

I don’t mind multiple airlines to get an affordable fare, as I’m on a college student’s budget 🙂

Can you tell me the best way to get the cheapest fares? I lived on Maui 3 years ago and miss the island and my best friend dearly!

    Mahalo — Y’all ROCK!!!

    1. Hi Lisa,

Fares will be over $1k until 12/30 when they drop by $100 or so, then on 1/3 by another hundred and 1/5 down to $700’s. Return date shouldn’t be a problem but Sunday and Monday are higher priced.

      Aloha.

  5. Hi there 🙂
I’m wanting to go to one of the islands during this sale from DFW.
I don’t mind a long connection if necessary.
Can you tell me the best way to get the cheapest fares?
    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Janell,

There are fares starting at just over $650 with two connections and a 30 hour duration from now through early February except at holidays. To get it down to 20 hours add about $50, and to get it to a reasonable 13 hours it is about $750. Try various carriers including Virgin America and Alaska.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Nadya,

Should improve in about a year when Hawaii starts to take delivery of their new planes that will serve the Kauai market.

      Aloha.

  6. Flying to Maui from Portland near the end of April. Do you see airfare coming down anytime soon or should we go ahead and book now…thanks.

    1. Hi Bulky.

For nonstop expect to pay about $500. Not really available yet for those dates so wait for that. Also keep an eye on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Not sure what we’ll find but we do expect airfare sales.

      Aloha.

  7. Where did you find the $199 flights? I can’t find them on Hawaiian Air —

    Oakland or San Jose $199

    San Francisco or Seattle $219

  8. We are hoping to visit Maui in February 2017, traveling from Portland. Can you please tell me the best time to book airfare?
    thanks!

    1. Hi Becky,

Now would be a good time. About $475. Could get better last minute, but not likely.

      Aloha.

  9. I used to live on Molokai and now live in Michigan. My husband of 30 years has never been to Hawaii and I would like to go there with him. I miss Hawaii and want to show him all the places I knew and loved. Are there ever any special rates to Hawaii out of Detroit?
    Mahalo!
    Wendy

    1. Hi Wendy.

With a long connection you can fly for about $600 to Honolulu on Alaska. Otherwise, with a quicker connection, about $850 on multiple airlines. Keep watching as it could improve.

      Aloha.

  10. Hi there! We have hotel reservations on Maui for a week, starting March 18th. When do you think we’ll see a sale from airlines for that time period? We’re flying out of the SF Bay Area.

    Thanks much!
