  1. Hi, I am coming from Lawton OK and planning trip to Maui Aug. 16-23 2018. Where can I find the cheapest package deals for flight and hotel? And when should I book it?

  2. We are heading to the Big Island from SLC January 4th, 2018. So far airfare is staying around $800. Please share any thoughts on when we should take the plunge and purchase to hopefully get the best fares.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Jacquie.

More like $650 today with good connection, depending on your return date. Not bad and probably won’t improve much if at all.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi there! My girlfriend and i are looking to fly to either honolulu or maui (departing from winnipeg/ YWG CANADA). Have not decided on dates, possibly between oct-feb but we are pretty open. Please let us know what dates/months would be cheapest to fly and when we should probably book if possible?

    thank you so much!!

    1. Hi Kevin.

Currently on Westjet mid $400’s round trip to HNL and about $100 more to OGG, other than December. Good prices. Doubtful those will improve. Fall is a great time to visit. Actually anytime is. That’s Hawaii.

      Aloha.

  4. Hi, my fiancé and are looking to take our honeymoon to Hawaii in May. We would leave probably May 7ish and come back around May 17.

When would be the best time to buy our plane tickets? We’ve been looking for weeks but so far prices either haven’t changed much or have gone up.

What would be an ideal price too? We have never traveled to Hawaii. We would probably be open to landing/leaving in either Kau or Hnl.

Thank you for any advice! This site was very helpful!

    1. Hi Lydia.

You didn’t say where you are traveling from. But generally speaking since next year has a lot of variable, and you’re traveling off season, we’d suggest waiting for some time. From west coast cities thinks may start to shake up for spring travel either this fall or winter.

      Aloha.

  5. Hi My name is Cindy! I will be traveling to Maui from Mpls late Feb 2018. My question is …
I have been looking at flights already and seen one for $880 round trip with car. I am staying for two weeks. I thought that sounded pretty good. Should I wait a while since it is so far out? This will be my 4th trip to Maui! Thanks for any info you or from any other Hawaii Lovers!

    1. Hi Cindy.

Looks like airfares will run about $700 with a good connection. For less cost you can take a very long connections (like 20 hours) and perhaps pay in $500’s. Not sure it will come down by waiting, but probably no harm in doing so either.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi!

It will be our first time traveling to the Big Island (Kona)! We are traveling from SLC. We are traveling from 4/1-4/8/18. I have started looking at flights, but they are still really high. Any advice is greatly appreciate. Please let me know if you think prices will decrease.

Thanks for your help and time!

    1. Hi Lisa.

If you can’t change dates it will be very costly. Doubtful they will decrease. That’s peak week of spring travel.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi! Thank you very much for the information on your website. I just subscribed to your newsletter and look forward to learning more.

We love the Hawaiian Islands, and are very familiar with The Big Island in particular. Usually I bargain shop for flights, and try to fly dates with the cheapest fares, so would typically book air first, then condos/hotels. My experience has been that I have gotten the best deals on airfare in mid to late January for flights after the kids get out of school in mid to late June. Usually, I’ve been able to get direct flights on Alaska or United between the SF Bay Area and Kona, for example, for around $400 r/t.

Next summer we have an unusual situation with very specific travel dates and condos are already booked. Thought my father-in-law was giving us a bunch of United miles to use for airline tix, but he has changed his mind. So now I need to look at purchasing and am wondering if you have any advice about whether waiting to buy might result in lower prices. Right now, Hawaiian Air seems to have the best R/T price between Oakland and Kahului for our dates (6/29 – 7/9/18) at about $650.

Mahalo in advance for your time and consideration. Hope you are enjoying a pleasant weekend and look forward to hearing your insights when it’s convenient for you to reply.

    1. Hi Anastasia.

If you’re a gambling person, you might wait since new flights could bring some additional savings. On the other hand that’s a very good price for high season dates already. So if you don’t want to risk it, then buy at $650 and don’t look back.

      Aloha.

  8. Hi there,

I’m looking way ahead, but just curious to know if you know of an est. cost for March flights to Maui?

The dates between March 23rd-Beg of April.

    Thanks for your help!

      1. Hi there,

I plan to fly out from Seattle.

        Thanks for your help!

Please let me know if you need any other info from me.

        Best,
        Ronette

        1. Hi Ronette.

You’re probably looking at $750 for your spring break dates. Not sure those prices will improve for your dates. It is doubtful.

          Aloha.

  9. I plan to travel to Maui (OGG) from either Oakland, CA (OAK), San Jose, CA or LAX or SFO from May 19, 2018 to June 2, 2018. Which airport is cheapest to fly from? What would anticipated rate range be? How soon should I book? Should I wait a while? Are certain days cheaper to fly in my date range? I prefer direct flight. There will be 5 or 6 adults and one lap infant (6 months old).

  10. We are planning a family trip to the Big Island flying into Kona at the end of January 2018. I was wondering when would be the best time to book flights. We are flying from Salt Lake City, UT. Prices right now are around $630. Are those prices likely to go down?
Thanks for all your help. Your website has been so helpful!

    1. Hi Amy.

Best price target is about $550 and that might or might not happen. There won’t be new flights in that time frame.

      Aloha.
