  1. Hello, I love Hawaii and have a trip planned for the end of July. This is my daughters first time there and is her seniors graduation gift. We want to experience the whole beautiful island. Due to this we are very leery. Should we reschedule to be safe for ours and the islands sake… thank you for any thoughts on this matter…

  2. Hello thanks for all your tips! My family has been flying from LAX to one of the islands over New Years week the last few years, and are planning to go to Maui this year. We are familiar with how expensive it is at this time of year, but were wondering if you have any guesstimates what to expect for this year given Co vid and its affects, and when we should buy. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated – thank you very much!

    1. Hi Pam.

Thanks. It feels a little too early to say exactly what will be happening for the holidays. But it looks like it is going to price out at about 1/2 of normal. There are already fares in that range – under $400 RT for peak dates.

      Aloha.

  3. Would like to visit Kauai sometime September after labor day. dates of Sept. 6 to 16, coming from departing from San Francisco returning to Chicago Midway.

  4. My hubby and I are going to Hawaii to celebrate our 25th Anniversary (How did that happen, we are not that old! LOL ) Flying from Detroit to Honolulu, what’s the best airline to look at for Feb, 2021? We would love to do one long day of flying rather than 2 days, and don’t mind a late night return flight on the way home. Any suggestions?

  5. From Jody
We have a family wedding in Maui around Thanksgiving 2020. I have been watching flights and see some rates on American for 786 (most restrictive). Keep hearing about Southwest potential but unsure when they will open November flight sales. Should we buy now? Or wait? There is three of us flying from GRR to OGG. November 17 – December 1 is when we would like to go but have a few days to be flexible. PS: Love your site already. Thank you for all the great info!

    1. Hi Jody.

Though time of year to expect the best prices. Right now just under $800 with 1-stop and fast connection.

Not sure those dates or any around them will improve much if at all.

      Aloha

    1. Hi Prudence.

Expect to pay $630 or more, depending on connections and duration mostly. You may need to wait a few months to see those prices.

      Aloha.

  7. aloha,
Would like to take my mom in April 2020 for her 70th Bday.
My dates are flexible, Leaving from NYC to Oahu. When should I purchase tickets?
    MAHALO!

    1. Hi Melissa.

Suggest flying starting mid-month in April, after spring break. Expect to pay between $470 with a long stop on west coast to $650 nonstop, depending on airline and airport.

      Aloha.

  8. Attending a wedding on Oahu the last weekend of June. When would be the best time to book a flight? It doesn’t seem to be a economical time of the year to go to Hawaii.

  9. Hi there;
Looking at Den-LIH in July (7th-19th). Would love direct, but they are around 1025 a ticket. yikes. Any idea what the trends are on this route? We can get there with stops, but it’s still around 900. thanks.

    1. Hi Cassandra.

Expensive dates. But, there is a $641 1-stop and quick connection, RT on American right now. Very good price. Don’t think this is going to get better.

      Aloha.
