  1. My fiancé and I would like to travel to Hawaii for a honeymoon. We are all the way on the east coast (Myrtle Beach, SC) when is the best time to travel. We really want to travel to Oahu to Pearl Harbour and the USS Arizona?

    1. Hi Pamela,

We suggest between spring break and summer or between mid-August and early December (except Thanksgiving). Great weather, best prices, fewer crowds.

      Aloha.

  2. I’m planning a trip to Honolulu at the end of April from the east coast, plane tickets are aound 800-900..would not be the best time to buy or consider waiting? thanks.

    1. Hi David,

New York airports should see better prices soon for after spring break. Other airports may or may not.

      Aloha.

  3. Thanks for the tips!

We are planning on flying from Las Vegas to Honolulu on May 10th 2015 – should we wait for a drop in prices or is it wise to buy now?

    Thanks in advance

    1. Hi Leah.

Consider waiting a bit until post spring break prices are announced. Or check Allegiant.

      Aloha.

  4. Planning a fmail trip to Oahu on April 25- May 5th ticket prices are about $766 rt. do you think I should wait or just book? Flying from columbus ohio

    1. Hi Shar,

Somewhat better pricing should be out soon for after spring break. Columbus doesn’t get Hawaii deals however, so unsure if that will help.

      Aloha.

  5. aloha beat of hawaii,

    1. Hi Phi,

I understand you want to travel this fall. Not sure where you are in Europe, but Norwegian has great deals to Oakland and from there, Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines to Hawaii.

      Aloha.

    2. hi,

thanks for your response. i actually live in austria. any cheaper options from here to hawaii for this autumn?

      thanks so much in advance

      1. Hi Phi,

The earlier suggestion of Norwegian to Oakland and then Hawaiian or Alaska is probably the cheapest way to get here.

        Aloha.

      1. Hi again Phi.

Inventory for air and accommodations should remain available for your time period. Start watching and see what Norwegian and Alaska/Hawaiian are offering. The mainland to Hawaii segments won’t see any possible fare sales until mid-summer however. Let us know how it goes.

        Aloha.

  6. Hi,

My husband and I would like to go to Hawaii (the big island) sometime in February, leaning towards February 15-22. We would need roundtrip tickets from Los Angeles. I noticed you had listed tickets starting from $170 available on hawaiian airlines, but I couldn’t find that deal. Also, your website mentioned prices for 2015 dropping to under $300 roundtrip, but I couldn’t locate any of those deals either :(. Any chance you can help me find these rates? Thanks in advance for all the great information about Hawaii that your website provides.

    1. Hi Rosie,

We publish deals as they are released by the airlines. And they are gone soon thereafter. That’s the nature of travel.

For rock bottom pricing out of Los Angeles you can try Allegiant Air to Honolulu. To Kona, American has many dates at $432 in February, but you’d have to leave by the 10th or starting on the 17th. You’re wanting to go over Valentine’s Day weekend which is higher.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Vanessa,

Deals for next January – if there are any – might start in the fall. January is high season in Hawaii and it could become oversold.

      Aloha.

  7. I am going to wedding June 30th to July 6. LAX to OGG, then to HNL, then back to LAX. It looks like $900 right now R/T. Do you think go ahead and buy or look again say around March or April.

    1. Hi Anne,

That is the ultimate of peak summer season. Suggest booking now and considering San Diego. The price today looks to be $809 on several carries (HA, AA) which is probably fair. About $100 less from San Diego. Try using Expedia, Orbitz or something like that too so you can see multi-carrier search results.

      Aloha.

  8. Hi, thank you for this website. I’ve been lurking for several months and waiting for airfare to fall for the time we will be visiting. And in fact airfare has fallen quite a bit.

Here is where I am at the moment. 2 adults, 1 teen, flying out of LAX to HNL April 5th, returning April 11th.

The 5th is inexpensive on a number of airlines, the 11th is not.

So at this point Allegiant is technically cheapest at around $540 RT. But because of luggage expenses, it comes out over $700 pp and thats not so cheap.

United is next and if I cut the trip short by one day(depart Friday), is $571 RT plus luggage fees that are not as onerous as Allegiant. Comes out to around $620-640 pp. But coming back on Friday vs Saturday is not exactly optimal.

Question is…are rates likely to continue to drop? Id be really happy if Hawaiian air or Alaska came down to $600-ish range. Id appreciate any input.

    Thank you, John

    1. Hi John,

      Thanks for writing.

First yes, fares will drop as we haven’t seen anything for after spring break, although LA is a bit problematic. San Diego looks more likely for better pricing on your dates if you’re interested in driving.

You’ve got the fares right and the choices. Suggest perhaps waiting although it is always a gamble.

      Aloha.
