  1. Have been watching direct flights JFK – HNL one way for early October. All the prices seemed pretty stable for September/October, but in the last week the date we are looking at has gone up 25%. Pretty much just on that one date!

I have been searching Hawaiian’s site regularly (daily) and through the major aggregators using that date. The article says: “•Late Summer and Fall 2015 travel – look for Hawaii deals to start appearing by early Summer 2015”.

Have I created a false demand for that date by pinging the search engine so much, or has everyone suddenly decided to travel from New York on the one day we want to??

    1. Hi Jeremy,

Good point on searching for fares. The airlines are the masters of supply and demand and it would be naive to think otherwise. Having said that fall deals are a ways off and there isn’t enough strength in that market to support higher prices. You may still be just fine to wait until fall deals start to appear. No one has a crystal ball on this, but having watched it closely now for nearly 10 years, that’s how it appears to us.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi!

We are planning our honeymoon in Kauai late October – early November. I’ve been monitoring Alaskan Airlines flights out of Seattle for the last several weeks. The prices seem good, but have remained the same. Should we hold out for an Alaskan Airline sale or book now?

    We very much appreciate it!

  3. We are looking to head to Oahu Aug 22-29 flying from San Diego. I have seen flights fluctuate from $550 to $650 in a matter of weeks. Should we wait to early summer in anticipation of rates dropping? Or should we buy now?
    Thanks,
    Alana

  4. Hi,

We found a vacation package for $1258 per person for 7 nights and 8 days (taxes and fees included) at Sheraton Waikiki from July 13-20. Is that a good deal for those specific dates?

Is there a possibility of it being a bit cheaper? 2 months ago, it was only about 1050 per person for 7 nights for those dates. I have been checking every day and it has not gone down. Should I wait it out or just pay $1258?

We are also flying from Newark Airport.

    Thanks,
    Monica

    1. Hi Monica.

In all honesty packages aren’t something we keep up with. It sounds reasonable given your dates.

      Aloha.

  5. Wow great info. My wife and I are going to meet 2 other people some where to fly to kauai late Sept 15 and return early Oct 15 Both flying out of different colo airports. Where would be the best/cheapest airport to meet at to fly to and from Kauai? Thanks in advance

  6. Hi there!

I am looking to take my family to Hawaii about the 3rd week in june..looking at flights from PHX at that time they are ranging at $625 and up..is there a better time we could go?

    Thanks for your advise!

    Mariana

    1. Hi Mariana.

It’s all in the post. Mid August will be better if you can do it.

      Aloha.

  7. Was just reading about the coming flights that Virgin America will be doing out of Oakland and SFO.
Wondering if the quoted fares are RT or OW.
Thanks in anticipation of or for clarifying

  8. I know it’s a wase out but I’m thinking about trying to get out there in Feb of ’16. Any predictions of what airfare will be like then? I figured it was an off season kind of time. I’ve been there in Feb before and the weather seemed ok

    1. Hi Justin,

February is somewhat high season for Hawaii although there can be some deals. Where are you traveling from and to?

      Aloha.

  9. Hi, my wife and I are looking to book a trip for our 10 year anniversary from Maine to Honolulu, a jump to Maui, and then back to Maine. The travel dates are approx. Nov 1 – Nov 14.
By reading other posts, it seems as though we should be waiting until early summer to book our flights (we have already reserved our accommodations).
We will most likely travel from Boston because of cost rather than Portland, ME (PWM), are there any recommendations as to which is the best airline to fly (we are tall people) and what price point we should be looking for on those dates?
Also, as far as the flight from Honolulu to Maui (Thursday 10/5), should we be booking that now to get the time we want, or will that price drop as well?
Thanks very much for your help. We are really looking to our first trip to Hawaii!

    1. Hi Ryan,

Best to get inter-island as soon as possible. A sale is a possibility but more likely is very high inter-island airfares and lack of availability for the time you want to fly.

Prices from Boston are about $800 but could drop with Virgin America’s entry into the San Francisco market. Keep an eye out for that.

      Aloha.

  10. Wow, what a great website, thanks!! We are looking to travel to HNL from PDX in late July or early August. I see you anticipate fares as low as $300 during summer. The lowest I can find for late July is $689, dropping to $450 in late August. When do the deals start to show up? Thanks from a first time traveler to the Islands!

    1. Hi Mike,

We do not expect fares from PDX to be $300 during summer. $450 is a good pricing for late August and it could get slightly better as we get closer, depending largely on competitive pressure within the industry. $700 is the normal mid June to mid August price.

      Aloha.
