      Early may is in low $600’s but late may about $700. Might improve if you wait. Per details in post. It isn’t a matter of where to buy but rather it is all about timing and location. Suggest buying from airline website when you find the deal you want.

    My husband and I will be going from Kansas City to Oahu over Thanksgiving to see my son and the Golden Regiment Marching Band (Blue Springs HS) perform. We are looking at Nov 22 or 23, returning on the 26th or 27th. What fare is fair (sorry :)0 and when is the best time to book this? Thanks!

      Nearly $1,200 with reasonable connection (11 hrs) or $937 with 20 hours time. Might not improve if you wait. On other hand it probably won’t get worse.

    I am planning a trip to the Big Island in spring of 2017. We currently have dates of April 4 to 11. Are you able to tell now if those dates fall into “Spring Break” time and therefore higher priced airfares? With Easter being April 16, 2017 I’m afraid to push it out a week but earlier seems risky as well. Thanks!

      Sorry but it isn’t clear quite yet when spring break will happen in 2017. Easter is in mid-April but schools are publishing vacations in mid-March. Check back again. We should know in a few months.

        In your experience, is it better to avoid flying close to Easter in terms of fares? Ie would it be safer to fly/book after mid-April in 2017 or it might not matter as much as when Spring Breaks fall?

    Hi! My husband and I are visiting Hawaii for the first time mid May 2016. Currently a roundtrip ticket from Austin,TX to the big island is $1050. I’ve seen it come down to $850 a few months ago, should I expect it to drop again or should I book now? Thanks!

          Sorry, now we’re getting prices from $681RT. Try Expedia or something similar to initially build itinerary. The better the connection the higher the price. At that amount might be worth waiting.

    Hello, ready to book a flight to Maui from Boston mid May (19th/20th?) for two adults to Maui (OGG). Seeing flights from lower $800 for 13hr-14 hr flight times. A few lower but that’s jumping up to 20 hour flight times…

      Yes that’s one of the games in air travel. For the best price it gets very painful time-wise. On a 13 hour total elapsed time itinerary we’re finding $727 as of today on United Airlines which is reasonable. Could improve if you wait but that’s no guarantee.

    Can you please let me know what you feel the best airline would be to fly to Maui from Orlando, FL and when to book to get the best rates? We will be taking our honeymoon in late November 2016 (week of Thanksgiving). Any tips would be helpful – this is my first time taking a trip of this caliber.

      The best airline is subjective. UA and AA have equally good connections (under 13 hours) at about $1,100. If you want to spend 16 hours, the price drops by about $100.

      Thanksgiving is very high season and should be booked now.
