    Aloha,
    Last May we flew RT from San Jose to Kauai for $420 per person. We’re already checking for May of 2020 and are seeing fares in the $525-600 range. Should we wait them out and see if they go down in the future?

    Aloha! I follow your site regularly! Kaua’i resident here looking to fly RT Lihue to PHX in early December 2019. It doesn’t appear that Phoenix is a target city for great deals …yet. I would appreciate any current insights you may suggest. Mahalo!!

      Not very good pricing overall. There is a $443 RT, 1-stop on Delta, the first week of December, returning the second week. Other than that most starts just over $500 on multiple carriers. No reason to expect it to improve.

    Thanks for all your content, such great information! We are planning to Maui from Ohio in June 2020. Since we are so far east, our plan of action is to add an additional travel day onto each end of the trip in order to take advantage of Southwest fares. We are basically planning to book flights between California and Ohio round trip, and wait for Southwest to release more flights early next year in order to book from California to Maui. Do you think this is a good method?

      Thanks! Yes that’s a good plan. The only thing to add is that airlines with try their hardest not to compete with rock bottom prices during the peak of summer, or at least to do so to a lesser degree. Who knows at this point how successful they will be. Next summer should, however, be significantly cheaper from the Southwest departure cities than normal, that’s for sure.

    Hi. We are looking at travelling to Maui from San Jose, Ca on April 3rd (popular Spring Break/Easter week. I am seeing fares of $683 RT right now. Do you think these may go lower, or I should probably book? Thanks!

      Next year is hard to predict. Here’s why. While we don’t expect more flights in that market, the additional SWA flights starting in January and those soon to be announced from San Diego could have a ripple effect. Having said that, $700 is the normal fare for spring break. So probably won’t go higher, and might or might not improve by waiting.

    Please advise me best options for travel to HNL from LIT round trip from early Jan, 2020 to early March, 2020. Also, when is best time to book this travel?

      Hi David.

      For a fast 2-flight trip, it is going to cost in the low $800’s, and that is available now. If you want cheaper, but longer duration and more stops, that is currently about $100 less, and if you want it could be $200 less. That could happen at any point.
