  1. As always thanks for your great info. I do not see any Boston flights near that price on the calendar. Cheapest is $624 in October. Been watching Hopper for a month for the end of September. Lowest now is $500 but hopper says to wait. Mahalo

    1. Hi Paul.

That is correct. As is clearly indicated in the post, those are the one-way all-inclusive fares.

      Aloha.

  2. Hello Beat of Hawaii!
Thank you so much for your great work and helpful information! This might be difficult to answer, but do you have any general wisdom as to when it is the best time to book for a flight from Seattle to Maui in late October (20-27th)? You hear 2-3 months out, but then I get concerned about things prices going up. It is tricky for me as an infrequent flier. Might you have any wisdom on when is a good time to book so you don’t miss the sales, but also don’t wait so long that prices skyrocket? Thanks!

    1. Hi Jeff.

Thanks. That isn’t a very competitive market so don’t expect really cheap prices like we saw this week from California. $467 RT nonstop on Alaska for your dates is a fair price if you’re willing to come back on their overnight flight. Hawaiian is about $100 more and isn’t overnight. No reason to believe prices to go down.

      Aloha.

      Aloha.

      1. Thanks BOH and Jeff

For SEA / OGG flights ,you should check out Alaska Airlines “Companion Fare” by which one person pays regular coach fare and the second person pays $99 plus tax. This deal is good anywhere Alaska flys, including all the major Hawaiian islands, but you will need to have an Alaska Airlines credit card (issued by Bank of America – $75 annual fee. You will also need to have a no-cost Alaska Airlines Mileage Program account which you can apply for online. A virtual annual link authorizing one companion fare ticket per year will automatically be posted to your Mileage Plan account.

  3. Aloha men! So I tried to get in on the flash sale for Hawaiian… The site was overloaded until a bit after midnight. When I went back, the rate was $634 round trip from Los Angeles to Lihue. (I need the extra comfort space for my leg.) I thought I’d wait to see if that price would drop. Gah! It’s now $769. Not a great move on my part. What does your crystal ball show? Do you think there will be any more of these sales before Nov. 1? BTW, I appreciate you and everything you do. Mahalo!

    1. Hi Claudia.

Sorry to hear what happened. So there are still a few reasonable fares in that market. An example is $198 RT on United 10/27-11/1. Yes, there will be fall airfare sales, and they could even be as good as what we saw this week.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Kathy.

If you would like any input, please provide both city pairs and desired travel dates.

      Aloha.

  4. I checked prices from Boston just for the heck of it and the “low fare” price shown was $2,090. Wow!

  5. Anyone have any luck? My Hawaiian app wouldn’t load. I guess everyone is trying to book something right now.

      1. Hi Kevin.

Not sure how we can help when you say “any suggestion will be good please.” If you want airfare help, we need city pairs and a date range.

        Aloha.

  6. Aloha! I’ve been trying for over an hour and I can’t even get on the site! I do have a question though. I wonder why they’re having a sale when the island is already overcrowded as it is? Besides no cars, it’s difficult to even get into a restaurant, as I’m sure you know. It’s just an observation. Is anyone else thinking this? Ah well… Mahalo all!

  7. Hi, thanks for the info! I wonder why Seattle is never included in these wonderful Hawaiian specials? Do you know?

    Thank you!

    Lanell

    1. Hi Lanell.

This fare war specifically targets those competitive markets where both SWA and HA are present. Only those cities were included. Supply and demand are such that the airlines appear happy with pricing and traffic in the Portland and Seattle markets. If SWA ever starts flying nonstop from there to Hawaii, that of course would change everything.

      Aloha/

  8. When I looked at Hawaiian for my Sept trip on Tuesday morning the price was $363 RT. When I looked at the lei day sale today for the same tickets it was $488. So do the math.$488-49=$439. Way more than their nonsale price.

  9. “Late summer and fall is arguably the very best time of year to visit Hawaii, with fewer visitors and the very best island weather.”

Shhhh.. You just let out our secret!

    Mahalo!
