  1. Hi,
I’m planning a trip in October for my birthday in Hawaii from Lax, is the flight cost reasonable with hotel stay included? When is the best time to fly with cheaper deal?

    Thanks

  2. Hello,

Family of 6 (one child under 12) going to HNL 10/1 through 10/8 from PHX. With gas prices increasing, will fares likely increase as well? I’m starting to get nervous. Should I buy now for $560RT on American or wait for a better deal?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    1. Hi Jeff,

That’s the going rate and with nothing likely in terms of new competition, it probably won’t change much if at all. No harm buying, and no harm waiting.

      Aloha.

    2. Hi Jeff!

My lady and i just got back from Maui and are ready to go again. We are heading back to Hawaii in Mid October. When do you think a good time to buy tickets for that time period would be?

      Thanks,

      Aaron

  3. I am traveling from CHS to HNL 06-14-16 then from HNLto KOA 06-19-16 and then KOA to CHS on 06-24-16. Cheapest I can find is about $1250.00. Is this a good price or should I wait?

    1. Hi Jeff,

We’ll leave the inter-island out of the mix because it is so time of day priced. CHS/HNL and KOA/CHS on your dates – price range is $1,132 to $1,294. Doubtful that will improve for your high season dates. Cheaper price has much longer duration. $1,294 is probably overall the best deal.

      Aloha.

  4. Hi!

I am trying to book a flight from San Diego to Honolulu in June (6/22 – 6/27). I’ve been waiting on prices to drop as I’ve seen multiple postings advising early-mid March is the best time to buy for a June vacation. Prices are sitting around $700 per ticket… Do you expect this to get any better or should I buy now? It’s actually risen in the past week from $650.

    Thanks,

    Micah

  5. I will be traveling from July 19 thru July 26 to Lihue/Kaui on a one way from Phx prices are at $424 for one way, then going from Lihue/Kaui to OGG/Maui which is running at $112. We are staying in Maui from 7/26 thru 8/2/16 and back to Phoenix one way ticket which is running a $422. Do you think the prices will improve and I should wait on purchasing? So far Alaskan Airlines looks to be the cheapest price.

    1. Hi Michelle,

We might suggest American for your itinerary. $830 RT and both are nonstop from Phoenix. Then add inter-island (which should be bought soon).

Fair price – won’t go down.

      Aloha.

  6. Flying from SF Bay area to OGG 7/23-7/30 – 6 adults 1 child – when is the best time to buy? Flights seem really high right now 🙁 Aloha!

  7. Hello!
I am coming from DAL (Dallas,tx) and looking for a round trip going to HNL 6/4-6/11. I know that prices are typically high during the summer, but do you think they might drop lower? I’ve seen them running from 600-800. In Sept we got them around 400.

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Shyla,

Your dates will be expensive. Those are Saturdays in June and the return is definitely high season. Not sure it will improve at all by waiting.

      Aloha.

  8. HI there, we are looking to go to Maui 6/5-6/11 from either SFO or OAK. Cheapest we found was $561 on VirginAir. Other airlines were $600-$700. Do you think we should we wait to see if prices drop or go forward with the $561? Thank you so much for your advice!

  9. Hi

Looking for a one way fare from HNL to NYC on Aug 25th, preferably non stop.
Hawaiian propose non stop flights at $528. Is it a good deal? Should I book it now?
    Many thanks!

    1. Hi Florent,

Not a great deal. Might improve if you wait, but also might not. One-way prices are typically higher.

      Aloha.

  10. Hello,

By any chance, will flights from ogg to either hilo or kona drop down in price for 5/22-5/24? I believe it’s currently at $180-$190? I saw the deal that was posted maybe a week ago, but didn’t have my dates locked in at that moment. I appreciate your help!

  11. Hi,

We’re flying to Kauai from LAX second week of May. Right now lowest fares are $540 (including an over-night trip), or $605 nonstop. Any chance these will drop? Thanks!

    1. Hi Brian,

Nothing is the works that would indicate likelihood of dropping unfortunately. For mid-week travel it is $498 nonstop on most carriers if that helps.

      Aloha.

  12. I am looking to travel 6/29 thru 7/10 Washington, DC area to Honolulu. Best price I can find is $942.00. Do you think the price will come down?

    1. Hi Laura,

Probably won’t go down. If you return following day you save over $100. Nonstop is over $1200.

      Aloha.

  13. Hi there,

We are thinking of traveling SMF to OGG around 8/14-22. Is the current price of $516 decent or does this route ever see sale pricing? Thank you for your informative site!

    1. Hi Stacey,

Very pragmatic question. Few deals on that route and yes that’s decent. Best hope target is about $470. Might be better to just lock it in for such a small difference.

      Aloha.

  14. I’m still waiting for a deal from LAX to HNL on 5/20 or 5/21 through 5/30, but can’t seem to find any good deals still. What should I expect to pay?

      1. Thanks! I think my dates were just a touch over $500 round trip and I was on the fence but took the risk of waiting for something near $400.

  15. Greetings!

Planning our first trip to Maui mid October. Want a 1 Stop flight from CVG to OGG. They have been at $1001 for some time. Should I wait? Will the 1 Stop options fill up?

    Thank you – Martin

    1. Hi Martin,

Finding $872 on 1-stop 9/20-9/27 on Delta. There are other dates too. It might improve if you wait. They have two 1-stop routings possible so it isn’t likely to fill up for your dates. Suggest waiting for better price – target is about $700.

      Aloha..

  16. My wife and I might plan a late fall trip to HI. How about fares from ORD as that’s the closest hub to us. Either to HNL or Hawaii. Thanks.

    1. Hi BB.

None so far and little improvement likely. Over $500 is low season unless you take a circuitous 17 hour route via SFO (for about $450). Sorry.

      Aloha

    1. Hi Gregg,

There are very few deals from Chicago which is why you don’t see them often. Search Chicago on the website to see past deals. There’s a $635 fare on Alaska Airlines to Maui late summer to fall if that helps.

      Aloha.

  17. I’m planning a trip August 14th – 20th (prob to Kona but haven’t fully decided yet) and thought I read earlier that the best airfares will hit around May. Does that still hold true? Or is this one low dip and another low dip in prices will hit later? I am coming from Los Angeles but need to coordinate with family members traveling from NY/Seattle and we’re not quite ready to buy yet. However if right now is the lowest fares are going to be, I would try to fast track our plans! Note our travel dates are NOT flexible. Thanks for this helpful site!

    1. Hi Amanda.

Thanks. The prices for your dates are really high $739+ from Los Angeles. And not very good from Seattle or NYC either. So best to wait on that. There will be many more opportunities for late summer deals.

      Aloha.

  18. I am finding no “sale” price on fares from OAK to OGG on Alaska Airlines during the month of July. I’ve been following this route/travel period for quite some time, hoping for a sale and thought for a moment that my patience had paid off when I saw that peak summer dates were included, but the prices are exactly the same as they have been for months. At least for me, this “sale” is a nonevent…so disappointing!

    1. Hi Carla,

Fares change constantly. There are still quite a few $598 fares from San Jose in July, while Oakland for now jumped up to $643. That is still an excellent price for July, when the expected price is $700+.

      Aloha

    1. Hi Vessy,

Oakland or San Jose $388 spring; $598 peak summer (Oakland higher); $438 late summer/fall (Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines). That’s $194 each way.

      Aloha.

  19. I looked at all the airlines you stated from San Diego. For travel dates June and it is a lot higher then stated on your website.

San Diego $407 spring; $586 peak summer; $465 late summer (Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, American Airlines)

Allot more then what you are saying please check because I can’t find any of these deals on any airline

    1. Hi Pablo,

Prices are correct, and some dates are even a few dollars less. Did you do a flexible date search? As is clearly stated in the post “Fares below are the lowest found in each season, but are not available from all carriers, on all dates or all flights.”

      Aloha.

  20. Hi!

My fiancé and I will be traveling to Maui from Portland in September, so in your opinion should we go ahead and jump on the $548 non-stop round trip price or should we wait and see if it drops?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Scott,

Portland isn’t a clear call in relation to upcoming Hawaii deals. Thus it is hard to say if it will improve. If you want a gut call, then yes, wait.

      Aloha.
