    1. Deb you’ll find that 99% of these “great” fares only exist out of west coast with an occasional Phx itinerary thrown in. On a side note I’ve yet to hear about, or read on here, about snyone locking down any of these so called deals.

  1. Aloha Rob and Jeff. Mahalo for the info on the flights. Am now booked for another visit in October. Hope you are both doing great. Keep up the wonderful work. Always grateful for your updates.

    1. Hi Debra.

Thanks. We’re happy to hear you’ll be returning this fall! Jeff was busy buying tickets for family to visit this fall as well. Fantastic prices.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi Guys,

Those Hawaiian Airline deals are great!!! But how can you afford to stay in a hotel in Hawaii? The usual $350-375 partial ocean view at the Big Island’s Waikoloa Beach Marriott is over $1,000 PER night! Yikes! Craziness! We miss Hawaii so very much, but won’t pay those hotel prices.

Thank you BoH for all your updates. You are greatly appreciated!

    Aloha!

    1. Hi Mignon.

Yes hotel prices are crazy. Overall vacation rentals still have better value.

      Aloha.

  3. That must be 1 seat per flight. I’m sending 20 from CA.

Depart Feb 18, return Feb 26, for all passengers, all coach:

    SFO-HNL $1099
If I can get them to LAX, it’s $504 – good fare, but not $198 either.

    1. Hi Rod.

Well, it is 4 days later. Did you check when we posted it on 2/8? It was way more than 1 per flight, albeit not available on every flight.

      Aloha.

          1. BOE, overall we did OK.

From the West Coast to the East Coast, fares got higher:
            539.01
            496.99
            479.01
            888.00
            871.26
            699.49
            1,074.50
            1,129.50
            1,524.40

We did okay with rooms too. I was looking at $33,000 ended up at a comparable property for a little less than $13,000. 3 mini-vans at about $1150/each for 9 days. I guess that’s not outrageous. In July we had a full-size SUV (Ford Navigator, I think) for $30/day, $39 with fees & taxes. That was a special circumstance. Mahalo!

          2. Hi Rod.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you. That sounds like quite a meeting or party. Enjoy!

            Aloha.

  4. Hi BOH,

I just clicked on your link below to find those fares from Oakland, CA. to Maui for end of April and no where on their calendar does it show a $99.00 fare anywhere. Such a joke. What am I doing wrong? I tried mid week flights and found nothing at that price nor have I ever when you say the airlines are offering low fares. Again, what did I just miss?

    1. Mike, we’re sitting on 2 Tix from Phoenix Non-Stop from February 2020, $567 No Refunds, but Hawaiian is a great Carrier and their Non-Stop @ 1100 Hours, is basically twice what ours is, but to connect on the West Coast home, is generally Red-eyes that have one arriving in LAX or SFO, before continuing. If you have Jet Blue Miles, think about that, get a Hawaiiam CC and you can cut the partner ticket by half, and probably have enough to Upgrade to 1st One Way, Comfort Coach on the other.

      1. Thanks Randy, really good info, I appreciate it. I do have JB miles and I will definitely be signing up for the HA CC. Always dreamed of a 1st class trip from OGG to BOS.

  5. We typically go to Maui end of Aug/Sept but thus year planning to go end of July. Since I’ve not had to look in July, is RT from LAX for $350 a good deal? I’m a no-frills flyer so basic economy is what I book. Thanks!

    1. Hi Oscar.

We omitted Sacramento because it didn’t have the deals that the listed cities did. The post says it is limited and that’s what we meant. In any event, on looking again this afternoon we found one reasonable fare to Maui and updated the post with that.

      Aloha.

  6. HA and AK are terribly overpriced for Portland/Seattle. For a good fare I have to fly down to SFO on UA!

    1
    1. Hi Maleko.

We are total fans of get there the fastest possible. So we didn’t create connections via other airlines. You’re right though, getting down to LA or SD would in many instances be hundreds of dollars less next summer. For a larger group, that makes a difference.

      Aloha.

  7. Of course Phoenix is not included in this deal! Phoenix is never included in any of these deals! Why are there nevver any deals like this from Phoenix?

    2
    1. It’s a good question Marcy, one that I’ve often wondered about as well. We’ve been going to Maui for 10+ years and the airfare hasn’t been that bad the past 5 years or so (r/t non stop for about $400) but nothing like the ridiculously low prices quoted on here. My guess is that most people can’t get these prices because it’s a nice trick the airlines play. I’ve never read one person saying they got a $99 or $150 ticket to Hawaii, but yeah it would be nice one of these days to find/use one.

      1
  8. What good is a $55 airfare when hotel room prices are through the roof? A $400 room is now $900 per night. No thanks.

    8
    1. Exactly. We just bought tickets to Maui without knowing the hotel prices and now don’t know what to do. The prices are not worth it.

      3
      1. We did the same with Oahu and the got a cheap plane ticket to Kauai. Hawaiian and Southwest hit at about $40 one way.

        1. Lanell;

Ix-nay on the ondo-cays (if you get my drift). I like the prices just the way they are….

          Thanks,
          Mike J

          1. Not sure what all that means, would be nice if we all typed/spoke like adults. Overall value in Maui condos are the way to go imo.

          2. It’s pig-latin BTW, just my attempt at levity. Point being that the more people know about this (great deal) the demand will increase and the prices will go up. Just sayin…

    2. Stay in a vrbo or condo etc. There are tons of sites of people renting out there condos etc, plus it saves you all that $$$ eating out almost every meal as you have your own kitchen/bar etc. We go to Maui 2-3 times a year, always stay in a condo and depending how much room you need your looking at anywhere from $225-$600 night, except over Thanksgiving/Christmas etc.

  9. These sales sound great! Fill the airline seats! But how will people get around? We are coming to Kona in February and I am literally scared to death the car rental company will not honor the incredible rate I have because I “stealth booked” before they jacked up the rates! I have 8+ hours of flying and will probably be a nervous wreck till I have car keys in my hand.

What a way to do a vacation! I hope my self-inflicted stress well be for nothing!

    2
    1. THOMA…. What do you mean “stealth booked”? Curious what that is. Don’t need to do it – I have a lifetime corporate rate with Hertz but am curious.

    2. THOMA … I just completed a trip to O’ahu and used AutoSlash.com for my car rental reservations. First quote in August was for $800+ for my Dec. 9-16, 2021, week. I had AutoSlash.com monitor my reservations and in September it was down to $502, then $394 by October 7, then ended up at the lowest quote of $321 on October 25. It took some work on my part – I had to accept and cancel more than 11 reservations on my computer – but I saved over $470. I encourage you to try it!

    3. Hi,
Do you belong to Costco? I looked at a car pickup/return $465 Mazda SUV for one week. Nice thing about Costco is all Costco members can be additional drivers for free.
So if you have several potential additional drivers, it’s a big savings,
      Have a great vacation!

  10. It’s become very popular to fly Hawaiian Air out of Long Beach for those of us in So Cal. Do you know if Long Beach is included?

      1. Just got $223 from PHX last week, even less using miles for part of the fare. So they do give us some love. Gotta watch BOH for the deals

        1. Hi Gary.

Thanks. How’s it going now that guys are back from vacation? There have been deals from Phoenix, as well as from the Pacific Northwest. They aren’t as plentiful due to a different and less active competitive environment.

          Aloha.

  11. Thank you for this timely information. We head to Kauai & Kona the end of January. We like the extra comfort seats & prefer to fly out of Sacramento rather than the Bay Area so we know we will pay more. It took some effort, time & patience. We had to book each leg separately & repeat the process when our reservation got stuck somewhere & wouldn’t go thru. But success!

  12. Thrice postponed with Covid and Ige issues, currently on our way in late January @ $567.00 Each, no help from Hawaiian. Can’t beat the new prices, but a shame all can’t partake, two years later! A hui Hou.

  13. I guess Hawaiian airlines doesn’t care that HI is over sold, over booked, and cant keep up with demand as it is….

    2
    1. You can actually blame southwest. Locals wanted lower airfares, but you’re also going to get the lower class people from the mainland. Can’t have it both ways. If it weren’t for southwest, airfares wouldn’t be as low.

      5
      1. Well you are correct about SWA being to blame for much of the overcrowding but I think it’s more because they have added so many flights from different destinations being fed by their extensive mainland route structure. The fares would have likely been in the same ball park as they are with HA having competition from Alaska, Delta UAL and AA.
Hawaiian has always had a better ratio of value and quality above everyone else.
Interesting to note that when the Mayor of Maui asked for the airlines to slow down the expansion of flights to Hawaii HA was willing to help but “other airlines” (read SWA) said no way, we are in the midst of trying to get market share….that was in the Star Advertiser recently.
So no HA is serving Hawaii while everyone else is finding use for idle airplanes flying to one of the few vacation spots open to Americans.

        2
      2. I fly SWA and am happy the airfares are low. Proud to be one of the “lower class people,” in Bob’s judgmental opinion.

  14. Oct 5-24, 2020 SW $218RT SFO-OGG

I cant find this deal or date anywhere else, at least for my needs. So many great prices but everything else is exponentially more expensive :/
