    1. Hi Carolann.

Can you please give us your dates and city pairs and we’ll see what we can find. Otherwise, no special tips. Mileage upgrades, if you have miles, or credit card offers. Otherwise, just looking for the best fare is all we can offer.

      Aloha.

  1. Hello,
I’m looking to fly from Orlando to Maui between dates of 3/11/20 – 3/31/20.
Would you recommend perhaps taking a flight with one airline from the East coast Then another from the West coast to Maui. I will have only a carry on. Thanks
    Richard C.

    1. Hi Richard.

Certainly can do that. But, for example, what happens if your first flight is delayed. We recently had a 4 hour delay flying from east coast to Hawaii via a stop on west coast. If it hadn’t been on one ticket, we would have missed flight from west coast to Hawaii and been out of luck.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi! Do you think the Prices will drop anymore for an October GSP TO Maui and a Honolulu to GSP? I’ve been waiting for the 3 month window and not much change. And would we save much going out of Atlanta instead?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Meredith.

About $775 with good connection and only 1-stop. Probably won’t improve and could go up by as much as $100. ATL is $600 on same basis.

      Aloha.

  3. I don’t see any deals as presented here on their website. Sept. 27 – Oct 11, SMF to LIH. Price calendar shows no discounted pricing. Maybe it’s me?

  4. Aloha!
I love your site and all the valuable and interesting info you provide. I have a question about inter-island fares.
We will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in your beautiful islands in December. We will be staying on four islands – Lanai, Maui, Kauai, and Oahu. It is the honeymoon we never had! I have already booked the ferry (Dec. 18) to take us from Lanai to Maui. Please, can you tell me the best time to book flights from Maui to Kauai (Dec. 21) and from Kauai to Oahu (Dec. 28)? Is Hawaiian Airlines the carrier I should be looking at?
    Mahalo,
    Sue

      1. Hi Cat.

Yes there are. There are fares from Orlando to Honolulu starting in low $400’s starting in August. We don’t usually report on them as we have very little demand from our visitors for that route. But always feel free to post a comment for whatever you are looking for (city pairs and dates) and we will be happy to try to help find the best deals.

        Aloha.

  5. Thank you for your wonderful information. I enjoy seeing the questions and your replies that are so informative.
I am looking to fly from San Jose or San Francisco CA to Hilo, then to Honolulu and back to San Jose or SFO in early January. (3 people for about 2 weeks)
I was wondering if this would be a good time to book, or whether you think fares might go lower. Is San Jose or San Francisco better as far as fares?
    Thank you again.

    1. Hi Linda.

It doesn’t seem that fares to Hilo will improve beyond this. On the other hand, they probably won’t get worse either. So you can probably do it whichever way works best for you, now or somewhat later in summer/early fall.

      Aloha.

  6. What is the best and lowest way to book LIT in mid-September to HNL returning to Lit around October 23rd? Dates are semi-flexible

  7. Traveling DFW to Hawaii in 2020 for our 25th wedding anniversary.

We just finished booking our rooms in Hawaii. 4/3-10/2020 on Lahaina Maui and 4/10-16/2020 on the Big Island. What advice do you have regarding who, what and how to book our airline reservations.

    Thank you so much,

    Bill M.

    1. Hi Bill.

Your outbound flight is scheduled on the most prime of spring break travel days. That looks like it will stay expensive and probably should be bought sooner than later. Suggest buying inter-island soon as well. The return from the Big Island, however, is in low season, and that isn’t a critical purchase. Price with good connection on outbound leg is $500, return is towards high $300’s and that segment could drop by $100 if you wait.

      Aloha.

  8. Hi!
Been following for a while and wanted to inquire what you think about flights end of November. Flexible on dates, but ideally 23/24- Dec. 3/4th. We are looking to go for around 9-10 days out of either Fort Lauderdale or Miami to Oahu or Kauai. The prices I’ve been seeing have fluctuated but seem to be steady around $870. Can I expect prices to get lower or is that typically their pricing around those times? Thanks so much for any advice!

    1. Hi Ana.

Those dates aren’t going to work since you are starting on Thanksgiving weekend. Probably would need to wait until middle of following week for best prices. You should then see fares in the $650 range with one stop and good connections. Those could start to pop up anytime from now until early fall.

      Aloha.

    2. Hi. We are going to Kona Jan 9-23 from Seattle via Alaska airlines. When would the best time to purchase be?
      Thanks
      Mary

      1. Hi Mary.

For mid-week travel, low $400’s is target price, and weekends at least $100 more. So keep an eye out. Perhaps within next two months.

        Aloha.

  9. Thank you so much for this wonderful resource! We’re looking to visit the Big Island, traveling from Portland sometime in January/February. I noticed some fares in late January for about $550 round trip. Would it be worth waiting to see if there are better deals in the future, or is that about the best we can expect?

    1. Hi Isaac.

Thank you. We’re seeing $508 nonstop for mid-week travel in January and February. And about $60 less including weekend for 1-stop. Not sure those will improve.

      Aloha.
