  1. I am departing from JFK May 27- June 3 it is gonna be 5 of us and we are flying to HNL. Looking at Hawaiian Airlines and economy comfort seats since it’s straight flight. The prices now are $1390 person, should I buy these tickets now or hold out and wait? They have already dropped once. Thanks

    1. Hi Ashley,

Looks like $984 per person for your dates right now, plus the cost of the comfort seats ($145 each way). Generally we expect prices to come down further for spring dates. The issue with your travel dates is that they are Saturdays. Those will remain higher and should improve with target of saving an additional $200 (so under $800RT) plus comfort seat cost. So do wait.

      Aloha.

      1. I have been looking under Hawaiian Airlines site. Is there somewhere else better to look where I can choose my seats? Thanks so much

        1. Hi Ashley.

Not sure what you are asking about “where I can choose my seats.” Please clarify so we can help.

          Aloha.

  2. Want to plan vacation time, 1-2 weeks, Kaneohe Hi, from Tampa, FL to visit my Marine son stationed there. Would like to know the best, cheapest time to fly, and visit. Thank you for your advise, Trinna

    1. Hi Trinna,

Details are already in the cheapest time posts. You can fly through mid-March for about $634 on multiple airlines, as of today. Good price.

      Aloha.

  3. Hello,

We are flying to Kauai from Feb 18 – Feb 25th, from the Detroit area. We have not purchased our flights yet. I am wondering if we should purchase now, or give it a week or two to see if rates go down? (Hoping for sales)

    Mahalo!

  4. Hi,

My partner and I will be traveling 2x per year to HI to see his kids. We plan to go in March and July. Currently, we have the Alaska Card that gives us one ticket for 99.00 My question is, to get the most out of our companion price ticket, should we use the ticket for March or July travel? Looking at both dates right now, the prices are very high from what we have paid in the past. Any advice or thoughts?

    1. Hi Courtney,

Much of March and all of July is high season so neither is ideal for getting good pricing. If those are your only choices, then March may turn out somewhat better, as spring break tends to be more changeable in terms of how the airlines price it. Not sure that helps, but really mid-August or April would be a lot better if that’s an option.

      Aloha

  5. Aloha…we are going to a wedding in Maui end of July to beginning of August. There will be 4 of us travelling…when is the best time to purchase our airfare? I have been checking almost everyday for fares and price doesn’t change much. Do you think Black Friday may have a special? Mahalo…Kalola

    1. Hi Kalola.

This isn’t what you want to hear. That’s high season, and as per post details in the part entitled “Cheap Flights to Hawaii | When to Buy Year Round” tickets are best bought as far in advance as possible. Prices won’t be going down; there will not be sales for end of July.

      Aloha.

  6. Hello,

I’m planning on vacationing in Maui and then to Oahu starting Dec. 12th. Your website posted the best time to book flights for this time would be during Thanksgiving week to see if prices would drop. I have not booked my flights yet, but I am flying from Oakland airport so do you think I should still wait until Thanksgiving week for possible deals? Is this risky or has this been a common pattern in the past?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Ashley,

No one knows for sure, so you’ll have to use your own judgment. We definitely are anticipating Black Friday and Cyber Monday Hawaii deals including from the airlines. Your travels are in low season so that looks good too in any event. We’d wait, but that’s us.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi there,

When would be the best time to book for April 6-15, 2017? Prices are ok right now on Hawaiian, but will they drop at all? We would be travelling from Portland to Oahu.

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Wendy,

Probably won’t get better for those dates unless it happens at very last minute. Spring break.

      Aloha.

  8. I want to go to Hawaii sometime in 2017. I am retires and my plans are flexible. I don’t have a lot of money and wanted to go to Maui and also visit the Arizona and battleship Missouri. A visit to the pineapple plantation is also a must and go to a luaus. I can only stay 7 days. Don’t want to rent a car.
