Planning a family vacation for 7 or more in the summer of 2019 (anytime from mid-June through mid-August). Will likely fly from Charlotte or Raleigh, NC to Honolulu. Age ranges from 11 through 77. Any advice on flights, where to stay, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much for website as well as for your newsletter. Incredibly helpful.

Thanks for the nice words!
On where to stay, suggest you get the Oahu Revealed guidebook. That’s the best one. You won’t go wrong with that in terms of everything about Oahu.
Now on airfares. If you end up with 10, then check with the group sales desks of various airlines for possible discount. That won’t work for 7 however. Southwest’s introduction of flights might work for you with a connection in California (you’ll have to connect someplace in any event). We expect that announcement quite soon.
At present, both cities are pricing on multiple airlines at about $900, which is fair for those dates. We can only see June, since airlines only have fares 330 days out, so we’ll know more soon.

I am waiting to see if the rates drop. I am going to LAX on July 7 (one way) and am hoping to get a better deal that is out there now. Any suggestions?

Thank you for all the information on your site. We are planning a trip to Maui 9/20-9/29 from Los Angeles. We are somewhat flexible on return date. We can return 9/27, 9/28, 9/29, 9/30. Flights have been around $500 per person RT. Please let me know if you anticipate any sales on these flights.

While we can’t say for sure, it is highly likely and thus we suggest waiting. Target price closer to $400.

On May 23rd I landed round-trip tickets from Detroit to Honolulu, Hawaii leaving on September 22 and returning on October 2nd for $442. We will be flying on United Airlines. What a deal. I set up a fair checker with FareCompare. I received an email saying Your trip’s price has dropped, $428 decrease from the last price we saw. I am so happy.
Do you anticipate prices going down between now and Sept or should we go ahead and just book?

More sales ahead for late summer and fall. So long as you stay away from weekends, you should be good.

What would be you best recommendations for connecting? Houston or go out to west coast?
Also, whats a good deal to shoot for coming from the southeast USA? most are $900 right now.

Target price of about $600 with reasonable connection time. Doesn’t really matter where you connect, since it will be a stop in one place or the other.

Maybe you should Southwest to Oakland spend a night there then shop. Everyone will be competing soon for the best rate from Oakland. Southwest will begin booking flights in the next few months.

Running about $1,000 at present with any kind of reasonable connection. With your Saturday departure, that may not improve. Probably safe to wait a couple of months and see if it improves.

I’m new to this site but having a hard time understanding it. My family of 4 would like to go to Kono from San diego after June 15- July 1 for a week or in the first 3 weeks of August for a week. I see there are flights advertised here for less than $200 each way but every time I press on the calendar, prices are way more. Help! Thanks!😀

Prices were valid as indicated at time posted. You have to be flexible to get best prices. Travel on 6/14 and return on 6/27 or 7/3 for $181 each way. Alternatively first three weeks of August is good as long as you travel Mondays through Fridays. Only weekend travel is departing on 8/12 or 19 (but again Mon-Fri returns).

Looking to take a cruise that would leave from Oahu on the 25th of August and return to port on the 1st of September. I would need to fly to Hawaii from Orlando, FL. Cheapest I found is $812 for a flight (including taxes). Do you think that’s the best price out there?

Hello! My fiancé and I plan to go to Oahu for our honeymoon this upcoming September. We plan on flying out of LA but flying back home to Atlanta from Hawaii. We’re trying to find a good deal as we want to fly out Mon Sept 17 and come back within that week.
